Hello, I am so glad that you would like to learn more about me! I am Dr. Johanna Andrews Adlam, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Premexcellence®. I have a Ph.D. in Public Health with a concentration in Social and Behavioral Health from the School of Public Health at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). I also completed my postdoctoral training in the Center for Health Disparities Research at UNLV. Additionally, I obtained a Master of Public Health degree and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Hofstra University in New York. I also hold academic certifications in Research, Mentorship, and Communication from the Graduate College at UNLV.
About five years ago, I embarked on an exciting new journey to become a Certified Coach! I am a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation. I am also a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) through the Co-Active Training Institute. As a Career and Life Coach, I help professionals gain the clarity and confidence they need to design their own unique path to a meaningful and fulfilling career or life. As a result of my journey, coupled with my skills and training as a Certified Coach, I developed transformative coaching programs to support other accomplished professionals on their journeys to achieving their vision of excellence in their careers and lives.
I am also deeply passionate about working with students, faculty, scholar-practitioners, and professionals at every stage of their academic and professional journeys. Having mentored, advised, and coached clients through research projects, course development, and career transitions for over a decade, and having taught Public Health at Hofstra University and UNLV, I understand the unique demands placed on scholars and leaders today. At Premexcellence® Academy, my services go beyond standard academic support; I take a holistic, person-centered approach that honors your multiple roles and identities both inside and outside the academy. As a Certified Coach, I combine strategic academic guidance with emotional and motivational support to help you build skills, elevate your performance, and foster wellness, empowering you to thrive with clarity and confidence.
As a Social and Behavioral Health Researcher, I have also collaborated on various public health research projects and programs with researchers from numerous institutions and organizations. I have decades of experience conducting interdisciplinary research studies and leading diverse research teams at the academic and health system levels. My research focuses on racial and ethnic health disparities, food insecurity, healthy food access for communities of color, and stress and coping processes for persons of color in the United States. I am energized by providing extensive and comprehensive consulting services for organizations and institutions working in public health research or programs.
Additionally, I am a purposeful and present Speaker and Facilitator who has partnered with prominent organizations and universities to share my expertise during keynote presentations, workshops, webinars, trainings, and group coaching sessions. My presentations focus on timely personal, professional, and academic development topics that help students and professionals reimagine new pathways in their academic programs or careers and gain the clarity and confidence they need to take creative action toward their vision of excellence. I value creating interactive, informative, innovative, inspiring, and impactful presentations to evoke transformation. I am generous with my wisdom and resources as I intentionally uplift, encourage, challenge, and motivate attendees.
All of my enriching personal and professional experiences have inspired me to launch Premexcellence® in 2021 to support students, faculty, scholar-practitioners, professionals, and organizations through my unique coaching style and individualized consulting and facilitation services.
